Beautiful Sleeve Collection by Carga

With the launch of the Sleeve Collection ($105-205), Carga continues its tradition of bringing architecturally inspired design to personal goods through its minimalistic aesthetic
and understated luxury.

“All of my Carga designs start from a place of personal need,” says Mauro Bianucci. “I couldn’t find something that would protect my Mac against scratches when carrying it in my bag. Something that wasn’t too bulky or gadget-like. I wanted something that was simple and functional, but looked good.”

The solution came when Mauro designed a unique closing mechanism without zippers, magnets or clasps, allowing for a smooth aesthetic while keeping the contents secure. This design feature coupled with the single-piece folding delivers a truly unique range leather goods.

The Sleeve collection is designed for the iPod/iPhone, iPad and 13”, 15” and 17” MacBooks.

It adopts the idea of “Collage” from Dadaism, a cultural movement in 1910s, allows a person to generate stories by a simple tangible action: shaking. When the box is shaken, a story contained inside switches its order randomly by sentence, and starts playing to the listener. The application is a poem generator. The poem <A.M.> by Kurt Schwitters is stored in the box. With each shaking action, different orders of this poem are generated and played.

A HAPPY BALANCE: “If you were to sum up what Rupa is all about in one word, that word would be ‘balance’. A balance between the two fields of activity of classic graphic design and design for the new (and very new) media, a balance between commissioned work and their own developments, and not least a healthy work-life balance … Balance is clearly their secret to success, all of course under the watchful and beneficial eye of those fortune-bringing cranes”, writes Bettina Schulz from novum about Rupa Design.
